Three health departments from Pilot I awarded re-accreditation status

Three North Carolina local health departments were awarded the status of re-accreditation at the Board meeting held in Raleigh on October 24th, 2008. The three local health departments--Cabarrus Health Alliance, Appalachian District Health Department, and Dare County Department of Public Health--were accredited by the Board after hearing the reports from their site visits held July through September. The process of accreditation is designed to ensure that local health departments are capable of providing all of the essential public health services for its citizens. NC now has a total of 40 accredited health departments. Congratulations to Cabarrus, Appalachian District and Dare!
