North Carolina representatives participate in national Multi-State Learning Collaborative

North Carolina representatives were invited to participate in the national Multi-State Learning Collaborative for Performance and Capacity Assessment or Accreditation of Public Health Departments Departments held in Chicago September 20-22. The meeting was sponsored by the National Network of Public Health Institutes (NNPHI) and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF). 

The North Carolina group made a presentation on North Carolina's accreditation project quality improvements, partly funded by RWJF. The group included Ed Baker, Director of the North Carolina Institute for Public Health (NCIPH); Rachel Stevens, Senior Advisor to the Director, NCIPH; Joy Reed, Local Technical Assistance and Training Branch Head and Head, Public Health Nursing and Professional Development Unit, NC-DHHS Division of Public Health; Mary V. Davis, Director of Evaluation NCIPH; Monecia Thomas, North Carolina State Accreditation Coordinator, NCIPH; and Craig Michalak, North Carolina State Accreditation Adminstrator.

Other states represented included Illinois, Missouri, Michigan, and Washington. Leaders from NNPHI, the Public Health Foundation, the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials, the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO), and RWJF were also in attendance. Other key individuals invited to participate included Les Beitsch, Lee Thielen, Sarah Gillen, and Brenda Jolly as consultants, coordinators and facilitators.
