Rachel Stevens honored with the third Craig
Michalak Award for Excellence

Presentation of Michalak Award of ExcellenceThe Craig Michalak Award for Excellence was presented to Rachel Stevens at the NC Institute for Public Health fall staff meeting on September 4th, 2008. The award was established by the NC Institute for Public Health and is given to recognize those who have contributed to the practice of local health department accreditation in North Carolina.

The award was announced and presented by Dr. Ed Baker, director of the NC Institute for Public Health. Rachel was very instrumental in the development of NC’s local health department accreditation program and continues to be a strong advocate for the quality improvement process.

The award was established to honor the memory of Craig Michalak, who passed away in 2007 after a courageous battle with cancer. Craig, who served as Accreditation Administrator, was instrumental in developing and implementing much of the groundwork of the NCLHDA.

Congratulations to Rachel Stevens, and thank you for all that you have contributed to public health and accreditation in NC!
