Project develops innovative public health information technology

A proposal from NCIPH and the Cabarrus Health Alliance resulted in North Carolina being awarded one of 17 Beacon Community Demonstration Projects. Projects include the NC Health Information Portal, a data warehouse for public health information; Anna, a health education avatar; and the Daily Disease Report, a surveillance tool that targets school illness. SPH students on a Hillsborough street during public health scavenger hunt
On August 24, 37 incoming students at Gillings School of Global Public Health learned about public health practice on the Practice Pathways PHield Trip to Orange County Health Department in Hillsborough. Students participated in a public health scavenger hunt and a condom relay race. The event was organized by NCIPH and the Orange County Health Department and sponsored by the Southeast Public Health Training Center.
