The trainings on this website were designed to address applied epidemiology competencies relevant to frontline public health professionals. These competencies were selected from a comprehensive list developed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists (CSTE).
About CSTE Competencies
The Applied Epidemiology Competencies created by the CDC and CSTE describe the skills necessary for practicing epidemiologists to accomplish required tasks. These competencies were developed for epidemiologists working in government public health agencies and are consistent with the framework established in the Core Competencies for Public Health Professionals, which were developed for all public health workers.
There are three sets of competencies for epidemiologists at different levels: entry-level/basic, mid-level, and senior.
