order to increase the numbers of college-age youth who have been

Since Active Living By Design (ALBD) was launched in
2002, students have been a mainstay of its work. ALBD Director Sarah
Strunk noted, "From the beginning, we recognized we have a responsibility

Epi-Aid: Learning while helping|
The 2009 national assessment of epidemiologic capacity conducted
by the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists shows an erosion
of epidemiologic capacity in state health departments, endangering these
agencies’ ability to carry out essential public health functions.
This epidemiologic need is even more pronounced at the local level. Team
Epi-Aid, an award-winning service learning program administered by the
North Carolina Center for Public Health Preparedness, is helping to fill
