Applied Epidemiology Competencies
The applied epidemiology competencies are from the document Competencies for Applied Epidemiologists in Governmental Public Health Agencies (2/2008, v.1.2), developed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists. Both the Tier 1 (Entry Level or Basic Epidemiologist) and Tier 2 (Mid-Level Epidemiologist) sets of competencies have been used. The Tier 1 and Tier 2 competencies identified for each training are listed at the subcompetency level in the following format:
Public Health Preparedness and Response Core Competencies
The Public Health Preparedness & Response (PHP&R) Core Competencies were issued in 2010 by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Association of Schools of Public Health.
Core Public Health
The core public health competencies listed are the revised version (2010) of the Core Competencies for Public Health Professionals developed by the Public Health Foundation and the Council on Linkages to address the needs outlined in the publication, The Public Health Workforce: An Agenda for the 21st Century. These core competencies are for the Mid Tier public health professional (individual with an MPH or related degree and at least 5 years experience working in the public health field, or an individual without an MPH but at least 10 years experience working in the public health field).
