View Training Series: Introduction to Public Health in North Carolina
This online training series was originally developed as a component of a new- or recently-hired employee orientation for local health departments. It is intended to familiarize North Carolina local health department employees with the practice of public health in NC and the issues with which public health is concerned. The training series also introduces health department employees to the important role and responsibilities they have in providing public health services in their communities. Also covered are the sources of law that pertain to public health, the organization and scope of the public health infrastructure, and the challenges facing public health in NC and beyond. The entire series takes 2½ - 3 hours to complete.
NOTE: This training is not the same as the Principles & Practices of Public Health Nursing course. Please see the NCIPH Course Catalog for the next offering of this face-to-face training program.
This training series was originally developed in 2008 by the Southeast Public Health Training Center (project lead - Janet Place, MPH) and updated in 2014.
